Today in TBS session, we spoke about why men don’t wear skirts. Dr Ashley Morgan spoke about how men always seemed to be in power; for example, our prime minister is David Cameron. She spoke about the Panopticon effect and how that related to our every day lives.
We’re told we are free, but initially, we’re not. For example, we can’t walk around in the nude if we wanted too, because there’s laws in place to prevent us from doing so.
It was interesting, because I learned more indepth views on my body, the way I perceive it and how others see it, as well as how I perceive others’ bodies. I started reading an article that Dr. Morgan recommended on our reading lists. It’s about Men and Masculinities. I am currently working my way through the 21 pages of the article, highlighting things I feel are relevant to my project and what I am interested in. I’m excited about next week.
